So you've probably heard of the saying "a boy and his dog." Well... I must say my little Lil is a huge fan of Mocha. So the phrase "a girl and her dog" is not only fitting, but right on. The only thing that can distract Lilly from her exersaucer is Mocha. When Mocha walks in the room L stops making sounds and movement, and just stares at her in awe. Mocha always joins Lilly on her playmat. Lilly loves to reach for her, pet her, watch her, and pull her hair (which I'm constantly trying to teach her we don't do...). Mocha is so great with her and gives lots of kisses in return! Which in turn befuddles Lilly and causes a funny face {see furrowed brow in pic 3}. L then tries to grab her tongue... but can never catch it. These two are buds to say the least!

hubby turns the big two-eight!
Over Spring Break Jeremiah turned 28 years old! For his birthday he asked for a mountain bike. He loves riding and rode the trails at Cameron Park in college. It was also one of his favorite family memories growing up. So... Lulu, Jpop, and I went in together and bought him a mountain bike! Lilly bought him a trailer for her to ride in behind the bike once she is big enough. :) I feel a family tradition coming on... The weekend of his birthday he wanted to go to the lake and relax. He took his bike and got lots of riding in! First he dropped his car of at the shop and then rode home on his bike... approximately 7 miles. Then, my dad bought a mountain bike and they went and rode at Hamby Trails. Lastly, they ended their biking weekend by riding around the entire lake, 27 miles on mountain bikes! WOW! I don't know how they did it. I think it is an understatement to say they were so thankful for their padded shorts by the end of it all!
Jere's new set of wheels
I asked him to make me coffee in the morning and when he went in the kitchen there was a little surprise awaiting him...
Lilly and Clara
Clara is an adopted member of our family! She of course has her own family, but she has and will always be a part of ours as well. She even took care of me when I was Lilly's age so it was so special for her to meet and hold sweet Lilly!
L's first time on Daddy's shoulders
This might be a shocker for some of you... but every now and then you might catch this in our house...
Lulu and Jpop got Lilly a new toy. It is an activity table! And believe it or not... it is bilingual too. It has all sorts of exciting things: a phone, toy laptop, book, and lots of colors and sounds!
I love a sun hat and I especially love one with a wide brim. Although I'm not so sure Lilly was a big fan! She kept trying to pull it off.

Lilly sporting her shades!
When Lulu brought these to L from Seaside I must say I had my doubts, but they have definitely been handy and will be worn a lot this summer! Like her Mommy, Lilly's blue eyes are super sensitive and she hates it when it is bright out and the sun shines in them. So... these shades were a definite lifesaver. They didn't bother Lilly at all and her eyes thanked her! :)

the birthday boy and his cutie pie
She wasn't loving the life jacket... but she came around. Once we got moving in the boat it was just so relaxing. It almost rocked her to sleep.
L opening her mouth like Daddy. Such a copy cat!
I'm styling with my shades on top of my head!
Watch out! I grab all things in sight and I've got a good grip!
Hanging out on the dock! Mocha of course gathering sweet gum balls, bringing them to us to throw, and then when we wouldn't she would throw them in the water herself and then jump in to go after them. Crazy!
We definitely got our money's worth out of L's UPF swim outfit! I'm sure it will come in much more handy once those temps are on the rise!
Happy birthday Jere! We love you so much and had a blast celebrating YOU at the lake!
Looking forward to many more birthdays to come...
xoxo,
your girls

spring has sprung
Last week was my spring break and what a nice break it was! It was so great to sleep in a bit, rest, relax, and hang out with little miss Lilly. Mom/Lulu came in town and we had fun around Dallas. We even squeezed in a trip to the Arboretum. It always seems we have big aspirations and lots of fun ideas and things to do when she is in town but we never can do it all! Ugh... frustrating! Mom helped me with some spring cleaning and we mainly focused on cleaning out Lilly's closet and packing up her outgrown clothes... so sad! It was fun though to look at all the new clothes she can now wear! We came across this cute little number and L matched the tulips perfectly!
Lilly was obsessed with the grass! It was hard to get her to look up for a picture. She kept grabbing it and pulling up a handful.
She had just mastered sitting up by herself right before this. She can't do it forever... when she gets tired she topples over like this...
This little munchie loves her some tummy time!
Look at me sit up SO big!
The gardens were so beautiful! It was so refreshing and literally put a smile on my face to see everything turning green and flowers blooming. The tulips were exceptionally breathtaking. They planted 500,000 spring blooming bulbs! ah-mazing.
I can't help but imagine how gorgeous these crepe myrtles will be in just a short while when in full bloom!
A grimace while using those abs before toppling over..
We found a bare spot in the pansies to place Lillybug. This was all well and good until she started beheading the pansies... Then we had to move to a new locations. Oops!

What a fun day!
