Belly Bump

My belly is getting bigger and bigger. The weirdest is when I'm teaching and I walk close to the front row of student desks. I have a couple of students that like to reach out and poke my belly. Um... invasion of personal space. Quite awkward... especially when it is a 7th grade boy!

Be mine... VALENTINE!

How did we share the news?
Well... we told our family that we were expecting around Valentine's Day. So... I made homemade valentines for each family member/couple from the baby and we either delivered them in person or mailed them to those out of town.

I have to say they were pretty precious and each one was unique! The best part was seeing everyone's faces or receiving their phone calls once they received it!

* At the time we hadn't been to the doctor yet so we were guessing the due date was beginning of October! Once we went to the doc they set the official due date for September 30th.

You're going to be a Daddy!

Several of you have asked some of the same questions. So, in answer to your questions...

1) Were you trying to get pregnant?
Well... we weren't not trying. We stopped preventing in November and got pregnant in January! :)

2) How did you tell Jeremiah?
My body has always been like clock work so when I was one day late I immediately went out and bought a pregnancy test. Jeremiah left that morning to go over to Molly and Kyle's to help with their surround sound. While he was gone I took the test and sure enough... it was positive. :) About the time he was returning home, my mom, sister, and her fiancee were pulling up in front of the house to do some house hunting in Dallas. I wanted Jeremiah to be the first to know so I kept the BIG news to myself all weekend. In an effort to be creative I planned to tell him Monday night at dinner. After work I went to my favorite store, Papersource, and bought fall stationary (since the baby is due in the fall) and a cute letterpressed calendar. I called Jeremiah and he has just closed a big deal at work so I sneakily suggested we go to Houstons, our favorite restaurant, to celebrate! When we got to Houstons he tried to get me to order a margarita at the bar while we waited. (Their margaritas are amazing by the way. If you have never tried them I highly recommend them!) I convinced him I wanted to wait until we sat down... but I knew I would have to break the news quickly. So... upon ordering an appetizer once we were seated I handed him the card. He read it... and asked what big deal? I prompted him to find FALL on the calendar. He was so shocked and excited! He immediately came to my side of the booth and hugged me. Then we talked about it for the rest of dinner!

What the heck is a NINI?

For those of you that are wondering... and those that were brave enough to ask...

A nini (pronounced: nee nee) is a baby. My sister, Melissa, got the term from some of her college friends her freshman year and it has stuck ever since.

A couple of other terms you might want to add to your vocabulary.
* nana (pronounced nah nah)- one who is a young child
* nono (pronounced no no)- one who is quite old :)

Boy or Girl Nini???

We find out if we will have a baby girl or boy next month! People always ask what we want, g or b. Honestly... I have no preference. I always thought it would be fun to have an older brother so I think boy would be great... and girls are so fun to shop for so a girl is equally ideal! All I'm praying for is a happy and healthy baby!

Predictions/Signs...

1) Little nini's heartbeat has consistently been in the girl range (157 at 14 weeks and 160 at 16 weeks)... but that is not always accurate.

2) I did the Chinese calendar yesterday and all signs point to girl.

3) The necklace test also predicted girl.

4) My only boy piece of evidence... Aunt Sara strongly thinks she will have a nephew! Only time will tell... and a sonogram of course!
