All in all Lilly's first encounters with rice cereal were a success! I put it off until right before her 6 month appointment. Her pediatrician said that I could wait that long and quite honestly I didn't want to have to deal with the hassle of fitting something else into our day and one more thing to clean. :) It seems like right when we've got it down and are hitting our stride there is something new! Anyways... I wanted to try it before her 6 month appointment that way if I had questions I could ask the doc. She did great and ate all of it. It was so messy the first couple of times because I made it such a runny consistency. It took me a bit to figure out the perfect equation because I swear it gets thinner as she eats, maybe it is because it starts to mix with her saliva. Now that she eats it at a thicker consistency it isn't so bad and she has the eating off of the spoon down. She is like a little birdie and dives with her mouth wide open for the spoon then slurps it off. Here are some pics from her first few rice cereal meals. She now eats it twice a day and even loves oatmeal too!
day one
here it goes...
More interested in watching mocha! Sometimes I have to put Mocha in the other room to get Lilly to focus!
After...
but you can barely tell because it was such a "liquidy" consistency...
I finally caught this precious head tilt on camera. She just started this... leaning her head to the side. I think she likes seeing the world from a different perspective. Every time I would get the camera out to take a picture she would sit back up, but this time I caught it!
yum yum yum, happy girl!
i love it when she sneezes... it is the cutest achoo ever!
Mocha's birthday was not forgotten! We celebrated on April 25th, 2011. She turned 4 years old and has officially surpassed me in age in doggie years. :) We love you sweet girl!
Who is this baby? It is me! Or the first picture is me... and the rest are of course Lilly. This was one of my little sailor outfits from when I was a baby. Mom did such a great job of saving some cute outfits and now I get to put Lilly in them and see if there are any resemblances! I was older in this picture than Lilly is I think... or I was just a big baby, which is a true statement! I weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz. when I was born! Nonetheless I also have two upper teeth and I'm doing a darn good job balancing on that turtle. :) So in conclusion I think there is a little bit of an age difference but all in all, do you see any resemblances??
The other day Jeremiah got home from work and loved Lilly's outfit. He went on and on about how cute she looked and asked if I took any pictures. I hadn't so this prompted a mini photo shoot before getting Lilly ready for bed. There were so many precious ones! I couldn't decide which ones to post so I'm sorry there are so many! I seriously need someone unbiased to select the best ones. In fact, I'm curious to know your favorites. Maybe it will help me in selecting in the future. So... if you have a sec comment your favorites. I've numbered them 1-18. :) Enjoy! L has some funny faces!
When Lilly turned 6 months old I kept thinking... I can't believe I have been a mom for half a year! It is crazy how time flies. Before I know it we will be celebrating her 1 year old birthday. It is also hard to believe that it keeps getting better and better. I love this age!
Doing her head tilt...
L got her 2nd bottom tooth about a week after her 1st one came in. So she now has two teethies. :) She has big blue eyes which I can totally claim and kind of light golden brown hair with a hint of strawberry. L still has her chubby cheeks that I can't keep my hands off of :).
L's schedule has always been pretty dreamy. This is what a day in the life of L looks like these days. 7am wake up, nurse and cereal, play until 8:15am and then down for a nap until 10:15am. Then she wakes, has a bottle while I'm at work, plays, and goes down for a nap at 11:45am. She wakes at around 1pm, nurses, and then plays until 2:30pm. She goes down for her last nap of the day and wakes between 4pm and 4:30pm. She nurses, eats cereal, and plays. At around 6:30pm she nurses for the last time, does her bedtime routine, and then goes down for the night at 7pm. She sleeps about 12 hours, wakes at 7am, and starts all over!
So this little goober FINALLY laughed a real laugh! I've been waiting and waiting for this. The first video is of her normal low chuckle. It is funny sounding. The second video is of her actually giggling. She is ticklish on her back! HILARIOUS!
L loves to play play play. She still loves her tried and true favorites: exersaucer, mr. snail, and playmat. She also has some new faves as well. L loves her Raggedy Ann doll! I think the face and hair are most intriguing to her. She also loves this big block below and her little rubber blocks that I stack. She loves to knock them over. Sophie, the giraffe teether toy, is another favorite. We just have to be careful with it. It is the one toy that Mocha thinks is her own.
Look at me sit up SO big!
She has always loved to stand and pull up when we hold her hands. Now if I help her get there she can kind of stand holding onto other objects. She will be pulling up in no time! Check out the cellulite on her thighs. This is the only time in life it is just precious! I'm obsessed with her rolly thighs!
Below are two videos of Lilly's reaction to Lulu's Donald Duck impersonation. Lulu loves to make Donald Duck sounds and Lilly loves to smile and squeal in response. Enjoy!
This is what happens when Daddy gets home from work! I'm so jealous... at the first glance of him she makes the biggest grin from ear to ear.
Uncle Matthew came to visit!
Lil has never been a fan of a paci. I've tried... but no success. I always looked at it as one less habit to have to break later. But, on the way to Longview she got a little fussy so I attempted it again. She actually took it! I was shocked. It didn't last long though... on the way back to Dallas I tried it again and she would have nothing to do with it! Oh well...
This little fishy graduated from Bathtub Babies swim class! The next class is Waterbabies but I don't know when or if we will start that yet. It was a fun little adventure in the water! This girl loves to splash in the pool and the tub!
Lilly bug loves to be on her tummy! People often ask what I did to make her love it so much. I honestly have no idea... We did a little tummy time everyday when she was little, but I think she just likes it. If we lay her on her back she immediately flips to her belly. She now is becoming quite mobile. She can spin like crazy. I'm talking 360s galore! She can go backwards pretty well and can belly crawl. She even gets up on all four and rocks back and forth. Then, she collapses back to her belly. She will stick her tush in the air but she face-plants her upper body. She hasn't quite got crawling down, but I think she will be there in no time!
This little nugget started solids at 6 months. So far she has had rice cereal and oatmeal and eaten it like a champ (more details here). We are going to start some veggies and fruits soon! She still nurses 5 times a day. She's a great little eater!
Well she did graduate from the swaddle at 5 months and now she is all over the crib. She rolls around like a pin ball. Quite often I find her in this position with her arm up on the bumper and side of the crib. I would always go in and move her once she falls asleep so she doesn't smother herself in the bumper. She also was pulling the camera down because we had it propped on the end of the crib. So, we moved the camera monitor up high so she can't reach it and now we have an aerial view. After being fearful she might try to crawl out we lowered the crib. Problem solved! Now she just plays with the sleep sheep through the crib slats while trying to fall asleep.
Going to the doctor with this little bugger is lots of fun. She LOVES looking at herself in the mirror. She tries to kiss herself (with an open mouth) and tries to touch the baby in the mirror. She especially loves the white paper on the table. She crinkles it and gets a kick out of the loud sound it makes.
