The morning of day three we attended the ship safety briefing and cruised Hubbard Glacier. For the safety briefing we put on our life vests and heard about the procedures to take in the UN-likely event something were to go wrong.
Then that afternoon we were cruising at sea. One of the great things about our cruise ship was that it was smaller than some of the ginormous ones out there and we were able to access some more remote places... one being Hubbard Glacier. And boy was it spectacular! The weather our entire trip was amazing and particularly on this day it was important. Since it was so clear we were able to get really close. From far away it looked only about 10 feet above sea level, but as we got closer we realized in reality the ice wall is approximately 300 feet high.

Notice how the appearance of the glacier changes the closer we get to it! These are a spectacular part of God's creation!
Check out the huge chunk falling off. While we were there we saw many pieces of ice fall into the ocean and it made the loudest sound and huge waves. The glacier, which is basically a frozen river, is in fact moving... but only about 1-2 feet a day so at an extremely slow, frozen pace.

In the water there were tons of seals swimming and lounging on icebergs. They were so cute and all different sizes and colors. I can't imagine how they don't freeze their tushies off in that cold cold water!

On that note... I should mention that L loves Uncle Queso! Sometimes it makes Tia jealous when she gets so excited to see him. :)
