You would think I would have more time now that it is summer but we have been busy busy busy! I'm a little behind on the blog and Lilly's 8 month post so here it goes...
Lilly is such a stinker and a sweet baby at the same time. She is full of personality and is learning tons! She has found her voice and has started saying words, making lots of sounds, waving, crawling and pulling up on everything. I have to be on my A-game at all times because she is into everything... trashcans, loves cords like her daddy, playing in the toilet water, pulling Jeremiah's ties down off of the tie rack in the closet, and much more. ;)
Currently her schedule is wake at 7am, nurse, walk with mom, solids for breakfast, then nap 9am-11am. At 11am she wakes, nurses, and then solids for lunch. We then play and then she naps again from 1pm-3pm. At 3pm she wakes, nurses, and then we play, run errands, independent play, meet up with friends, or go to the park. At about 6pm she nurses again and then eats solids for dinner. Then we get ready for bed, brush teeth, read, and finish up with her bedtime routine. She goes nighty-night at about 7pm. She used to take a short third nap at around 4:30pm but dropped it at about 8 1/2 months. Sometimes if she doesn't nap well at one of her other naps I will put her down for this nap, but for the most part she has dropped it.

Lilly is so strong and really has shockingly great balance! She stood right up in the rocking chair while reaching for the shutters. I think she will be a yoga guru... or a yogi as Tia Mel says... in no time. She has already mastered a pretty perfect down dog. :)
L still has beautiful blue eyes so I think they are here to stay. She is definitely becoming her own little lady and is looking more and more like herself instead of just a baby. Most people think she still has lots of her dad in her, but as she gets older I get more and more comments that she looks like me too, which I love! :)
Lilly got her 5th and 6th teeth at about 8 1/2 months old. Her top lateral incisors have made their appearance! These are the teeth next to the top front teeth. The left one came in first and then the right one came in about a day later. There was no fussiness or signs or teething other than some major drool.
We are definitely babbling and have found our voice. Lilly is always talking to us, her toys, stuffed animals or herself. She just babbles away! L officially has 3 words to her vocabulary which came at about 8 1/2 months. First was bye, then hi, and then da-da. She doesn't quite make the connection of Jeremiah with da-da yet, in fact I tease that she thinks that is my name. :) With hi and bye she does wave so I'm pretty sure she has a good idea of what they mean.
This little bug is so much fun and on-the-go!!! She is crawling everywhere and hardly ever sits still. She is pulling up and can take a few steps while holding on to furniture. I have to have a spotter to take her picture in the chair because she tries to stand up or crawl off always.
4th of July Play Date at Barrett's Casa
We had lots of fun at this play date and the kiddos were so cute in their red, white, and blue! Kristin's house was decked out for the 4th of July! It is so fun to get a group of kiddos together and watch them interact. Soon it is going to be near impossible to get a pic as they are all starting to be on-the-move.
Lilly loves playtime. I recently put all her music on my old IPod. We have been listening to it a lot while we play. She loves the music and claps along to some of the songs. She is kind of "over" the Exersaucer. She likes it sometimes, but doesn't like to be in it for any length of time. I think it is because it confines her. She will crawl up to it and pull up on it and play with the toys from the outside, but she isn't the biggest fan of being inside it. She still loves the play mat and will now pull up on the arches and try to pull the hanging objects down. She has pretty much outgrown it, but every now and then it is still a favorite. Lilly was not much of a swinger. We used the swing some, but not a ton. Hopefully a future kiddo will be a fan so we get our money out of that investment. :) She loves to play on the kitchen floor while I cook or do laundry. Her favorite toys in there are my measuring spoons and measuring cups, spatulas, and mixing bowls. She loves to make music with the kitchen toys! Lilly loves her dolls too.

L went on her first ride in her Burley Bee bike buggy. Jeremiah and I got bikes for each other so we could go on family bike rides when Lilly got older. She is a little small for the buggy and her helmet is still a bit big, but we had a blast on our first family bike ride. Many memories and family picnics to come in this department especially when it starts to cool off! Check out her waving bye bye!

Lilly learned to clap! It is so cute! She loves to pick up small things and she grips them sooo tight and won't let go. She will hold onto the remains of baby Mum Mums for forever with a death grip... Same thing here with the cork.
L is still nursing four times and day. At about 8 1/2 months she went from eating solids two times a day to three times a day. Now she is eating a fruit and cereal in the morning, a fruit and veggie at lunch, and a veggie and cereal at dinner. She loves most all foods. Some new foods this month were pumpkin, green beans, peaches, mangos, blueberries, and raspberries. Her least favorite is green beans. She seems to have a sensitive gag reflex and if something is the least little bit chunky or thicker she gags and acts like she is choking. She has done this with mashed up fresh cantaloupe and peaches. When she did it with peaches she actually hurled and it was disgusting! It definitely made me not want to push the table food. Hopefully she will get over this soon and can move to some more table foods instead of just purees.
Lilly is also quite the musician. Now that she learned to clap she loves to bang her hands on anything that makes noise. This glider at the lake is perfect for making music! Now we are having trouble teaching her that she cannot bang on her highchair and make a mess with her food. :)
As we were getting ready to head back to Dallas Lilly climbed in the suitcase and was ready to go!
On the topic of traveling, we are getting ready for an Alaskan cruise. It will be an adventure especially now that she is so much more mobile since the last time we traveled. The flight is 6 hours and 40 minutes so if you have any advice for traveling with a baby this age, getting them to nap in a stroller, adjusting to different time zones, or anything relevant I'd love to know!
