Bassano del Grappa and Lake Garda, Italy

Last I wrote Lilly was feeling under the weather. That night she was running and fever, breathing fast, and it just seemed it was taking more effort than usual. Call it mother's instinct or whatever but I kept waking up in the middle of the night to check on her. The next morning she was still running and fever so I talked to Sara and we were able to get her into see a pediatrician. She diagnosed her with pneumonia and I don't remember what else. She got us on meds immediately and L was feeling better in no time! Thank goodness! We were so thankful we didn't end up having to go to an Italian hospital and the meds were so cheap. It was crazy... the pharmacies in Italy don't take your prescription slip from you so you could get it filled as many times as you want and without insurance it was still only like $5.

Towards the end of the week Sara got to take off work early in exchange for some El Fenix hot sauce we brought for her boss. :) She took us to Nove (famous for their ceramics) and then to Bassano del Grappa (famous of course for their grappa).

Bassano del Grappa was a pretty town with mountains. It was overcast the day we were there.

A pretty park

Smiles again!

On Saturday Jon joined us and we visited a couple of vineyards and wineries.

Then we went to Lake Garda. It is supposed to be as pretty as Lake Como but more of a hidden secret and not near as far from where we were. There was a beautiful castle there with neat moats on a peninsula with panoramic views of the lake.

I love this picture of Sara, Jackson and Jon!

Lilly found a couple of swans to play with.

They would get really close and then she got scared!

The lake was really beautiful and very peaceful. It was blue/green in color even on an overcast day. I can't imagine what it would have looked like when the weather was clear.

Our only group picture we got from the entire trip! Not the best picture of everyone... but documented together nonetheless!

Lilly ready to help give baby Jackson a bottle.

I loved some of these photos I captured of the swans!

A storm rolling in...

We quickly got our gelato and ended up having to make a run for the car in the pouring rain!

These were just some other pics captured around Vicenza. We loved Vicenza too but were not very good about documenting our time there. It is a quaint little city with good restaurants, gelato, cappuccinos, cute shops, and a pretty town square.

Boarded on the plane and ready to head back to the USA. We had so much fun! Thank you Jon and Sara for hosting us! :)

Sleeping on the plane. So thankful we got Lilly feeling better before the long plane ride home and pressure on her little ears.
