Venice, Italy

The next day we took a day trip to Venice... which ended up being more like a half day trip and was really chaotic. Jeremiah's good friend Barrett, who was living in Germany for the summer, came to Vicenza to stay with us for a couple of days. Sara and Jon were so kind to host him too!

The day he got there we had on our agenda to head to Venice. Lilly woke up that morning with a low fever and a little under the weather. She seemed ok until we arrived in Venice. Thankfully the train ride was only 30 minutes so it wasn't like we were too far away. She cried literally all day! We couldn't console her and we weren't sure exactly what was wrong. She didn't have a fever all day. It went away but she just screamed. I wasn't sure if she was just overly tired or what. The only time she was quiet was once she would fall asleep from crying so hard... she even lost her voice. I've never experienced anything like that with her before and it was heart breaking.

So... we had big plans to make the day of it and have dinner in Venice with one of my high school besties who was arriving that day for her honeymoon. But to say the least we made a quick trip out of it and headed back home to put Lilly down for a nap and hopefully get her feeling better.

Venice was a pretty city, very romantic. It almost looks like the town is flooded because the streets are waterways.

Cathedral in the Plaza

This picture was funny to me because it looks like it is just the two of us, but L is sleeping in the carrier on Jere's back.

Very intricate and detailed architecture

We grabbed pizza on the street for lunch and decided we better wrap it up because Lilly was still so sad when she woke up from her nap. Barrett was such a trooper and held Lilly for us to go on a quick gondola ride. We figured that was the one thing we must do in Venice and it wouldn't be very romantic with a screaming baby.

Getting ready to head home.

Lilly and daddy sacked out on the train ride home.

The next morning we went to the piazza and had cappuccinos and pastries for breakfast.

Being goofballs and having one of their many fake conversations...

Then, we said our goodbyes to Barrett and wished him safe travels back to Germany.

Thanks for coming to visit B!
